He graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of 艺术 degree from Baylor University in 1970; earned the 主 of Divinity degree magna cum laude from Princeton Theological Seminary in 1973; conducted post-baccalaureate research at the University of Bristol, 英格兰, from 1973 to 1974; 和 earned the Doktor der Theologie insigni cum laude from the University of Basel, Switzerl和, in 1978.
 
Dr. 罗伯特B. 斯隆管理学院 was born in Coleman, Texas, 和 grew up in Abilene. He is married to the former Sue Collier of Cisco, Texas.
